Design in Real Life was founded in 2011 by Joan Vaccaro and Maureen Fisher, designers with complementary backgrounds in design leadership, planning, and project management. Together, we bring both creativity and clarity to every project, guiding clients through complex renovations and new construction with solutions that are personal, livable, and enduring.
Joan Vaccaro is a California Certified Interior Designer (CID #1181), NCIDQ accredited, with decades of leadership in national architecture and design firms. Her expertise spans large-scale commercial and residential projects, with a focus on clarity, collaboration, and results.
Maureen Fisher is a California Certified Interior Designer (CID #6548), LEED AP BD+C, with a background in design, planning, and executive leadership. She has led residential projects nationwide and managed large-scale developments with an emphasis on sustainability and casually elegant design.
